Almaviva and Altaïr are considered “First
Growth” wineries. This term follows the French concept
of “Premier Grand Cru Classé”. This exclusive
tour begins at Viña Almaviva, which began in 1997 as
a joint venture between Baron Philippe de Rothschild and Viña
Concha y Toro. The host will introduce the guests to the winery’s
unique architecture and continue on through the cellar, where
one of the highlights is the view of the Gran Chai, the first
year barrel room, which is inspired by the Mouton Rothschild
Winery in France. The tour concludes with a tasting of icon
wine Almaviva. At Altaïr—a strategic alliance between
Château Dassault and the VSP Wine Group)—we will
visit the vineyards to learn about the terroir in Alto Cachapoal.
We will then walk through the imposing, well-integrated gravity-flow
cellar in the logical sequence of the vinification process
and end with a tasting of icon wine Altaïr. Experience
the wonderful fusion of French savoir-faire and Chile’s
unique terroir.
